The Métis music and dance research network (MMDRN)

MMDRN is an informal network of community members and cross-disciplinary scholars interested in supporting the revitalization, rematriation, and resurgence of Métis music and dance practices in all forms. Although we centre the practices of communities and individuals who identify as Métis, Michif, Otipemisiwak, and/or Halfbreed, our scope reaches outwards to related First Nations, Native American, and Inuit communities and traditions, as well as to non-Indigenous communities and traditions, with the understanding that music and dance practices are often shared traditions.

This group began during the hardest days of COVID-19, as a way to connect people across the continent and beyond who had a shared interest in Métis music and dance practices.
